This design focuses on the procession of entry. From the street, one encounters and moves through a garden wall into a tranquil entry court containing water, river rock, bamboo, and a bridge. The bridge leads to a wood-plank door opening on to a glass and steel stair. The procession continues upwards through the living area and ends on a cantilevered balcony stretching to the edge of a 100 foot high cliff overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains beyond. The house contains three levels with vertical openings throughout. The master suite – the cloud room – located on the top level, is edged in translucent panels, giving the room the illusion of floating within the cubic volume. A roof deck accesses a 360 degree view.
