Seattle, WA

The building is composed of four primary forms – a stucco “villa”, two wood clad sheds, and a terrace. The terrace mitigates between the building and the street, anchoring the home visually to the site and defining a defensible outdoor space accessed from the street by a stone stair. The shed containing the living room is set on this terrace and collides obliquely with the villa, injecting the room with a dynamic spatial quality and a more opportune orientation towards the sun and views. Sustainable materials are used throughout.
